God's Plan

We went for an ultrasound today and the babies are doing great. Unfortunately, they discovered that Chris is actually already dilated way more than is OK at 22 weeks. It turns out she was having contractions, but didn't know it. As a result, she was immediately admitted to the hospital and may have to remain there for the next three months to ensure she does not go into premature labor. We're hopeful she can return home for a bit before the babies are born. The doctor classified that as a possibility rather than a probability, so we're praying for it but not counting on it.

The fun news for today is that we're having two boys !!!! That works out well because the children were going to be raised as boys, regardless of their gender.

Please be in prayer for us and the babies. We need the strength to not just accept, but embrace God's will on this. We wanted children and put it in God's hands. This is the path he has for us and, while scared, we're eager to go down the path he has laid out.

I'll be posting more often with updates.

No news is good news

Chris is feeling good right now. The first trimester symptoms are behind us, it seems. Her belly is getting bigger. We'll post pictures soon.

June 21 Update

As requested, here is a picture of Mama. She's feeling much better these days. Her belly has really popped out in the past two weeks. Hopefully the first trimester funk is behind us. She finished up school this past week and now gets to take some downtime ... except for getting the house ready, scheduling parenting classes, minivan shopping, cleaning out the shed in the backyard so the mother-in-laws have a place to stay, and keeping me in line. OK, maybe she's not going to actually get any downtime. At least she can sleep in a bit.

Had a great doctor appointment the other day. Doctor was thrilled with the growth of the babies (about 4.5 inches tall now) and how Chris is faring. Looks like the one baby likes to show off its bootie. Takes after its Dad.

As an aside, we'd like to congratulate Bill and Sue Clem on their wedding today. We are so thrilled for them.

Update

Not much new to report. Chris seems to be running the gamut of every bothersome first trimester pregnancy issue, but she's holding up well. She's tough. I'm really proud of her. The babies are doing great. Heartbeats are strong and they are right on track with their growth. I've cut my travel back to two days a week so I can be here for her more.

5/30 Doctor Visit

Went in for our regular check-up today (last week was the neck check only). Everything is looking great. Babies are moving around. One baby is considerably more active than the other, bordering on spastic. Poor kid clearly got that from his/her father. No new pictures this week.

Doctor backed Chris' appointments down to every three weeks, rather than every two. We take that as a very good sign.

To appease the masses, we're going to get pictures of Chris up pretty soon.
